The Crimson Queen Japanese Maple is a highly ornamental, delicate tree, with a weeping form. This popular tree is small, almost shrub-like, pretty and features a fine texture. It bears dissected leaves that appear to go through 4 phases. The leaves emerge a reddish-purple in spring and then mature to a deep red during the late spring. In summer, the deep red color is mixed with greens. Finally, the leaves turn a bright reddish-purple in fall. Prune in winter. Japanese Maple trees are not recommended for the middle of a front yard as they need to be protected from the wind.
