The Royal Star Magnolia is a multi-stemmed deciduous tree that features a spreading, rounded crown and a small, compact form. This early bloomer produces fragrant and showy, large star-shaped white flowers in late winter to early spring, before the leaves emerge. The foliage holds its dark green color throughout the season before turning a brownish-yellow in the fall. Its fall color is not particularly outstanding. The Royal Star Magnolia is generally intolerant of soil extremes and urban pollutants. It is best if kept protected from high winds.
