Franklin's Gem is considered to be one of the hardiest boxwood varieties with its tolerance to shade and sun, different soils, cold and heat, and its resistance to deer. This broadleaf evergreen features a compact, rounded habit and formal appearance. Taking well to pruning, it is very suitable for use as a low hedge or border, in foundation plantings. Its bright green foliage matures to a rich olive color during the winter season. Slow growing.
